Receiving money
How can I receive USD?
From the US or abroad: share your US account details (account number and routing number) from the app. Your sender pays by ACH or wire. 👉 See Global Accounts- US Virtual Account.
From other US NALA customers: they can send USD straight to your Global Account. This is free.
How much can I receive?
Up to $50,000 per month (current limit). There's no limit on the number of payments.
Can I use the same details for everyone who pays me?
Yes. You get one set of US account details per Global Account, and you can share the same account and routing number with as many senders as you like, as often as you like.
Your details can only receive money. Nobody can take money out of your account using them.
Can someone outside the US pay me?
Yes. Ask them to send a USD wire to a US bank account using your routing number and account number.
No IBAN or SWIFT code is needed. US accounts use a routing number and account number instead. Any bank that can send money to the US will know what to do.
USD only. If your sender pays from another currency, their bank converts it to USD before sending.
Fees may be taken along the way. Other banks in the chain sometimes take a fee, so the amount you receive may be slightly lower than the amount sent.
How long do payments take?
How you're paid | Typical arrival |
Wire from a US bank | Same business day, if sent before the bank's afternoon cut-off |
ACH from a US bank | Usually 4–24 hours, up to 72 hours |
Wire from outside the US | Usually 1 working day, sometimes 3–5 working days |
US banks don't process payments on weekends or US public holidays, so a payment sent on a Friday evening may arrive on Monday.
Instant payments (FedNow) are coming soon.
Why might a payment be held?
Large or unusual payments may need a quick check before they're added to your balance, and we may ask where the money came from.
This is standard for any financial provider.
Adding money with mobile money
How do I add money from mobile money?
Open your Global Account and tap Add money.
Enter the amount. You'll see the TZS to USD rate and the exact USD you'll receive.
Confirm, then approve the payment prompt on your phone.
The USD is added to your Global Account.
Which mobile money networks can I use?
Mixx by Yas (Tigo Pesa) and Airtel Money.
Why did I pay more TZS than the app showed?
Your mobile money provider charges its own transfer fee on top of the amount.
The USD you receive still matches what the app showed.
My top-up expired or failed. What should I do?
You can try again straight away. A new attempt gets a fresh rate.
If money left your mobile wallet but didn't reach your Global Account, contact Support with your SMS confirmation or transaction reference.
Withdrawing to Tanzania
How do I withdraw my USD?
Convert your USD to Tanzanian shillings (TZS) in the app and send it to your Tanzanian bank account or mobile money. Withdrawals arrive near instantly.
Can I withdraw in USD?
No. Withdrawals are always paid out in TZS, converted at NALA's rate. You'll see the rate and the exact amount before you confirm.
Are there fees to withdraw?
Converting and withdrawing to a Tanzanian bank or mobile money is currently free. Any fee will always be shown in the app before you confirm.
How much can I withdraw?
Your limits depend on your verification level:
Verification | Per transfer | Per day | Per month (30 days) |
Standard | Up to $8,000–$9,000 | Up to $8,000–$9,000 | Up to $20,000–$32,000 |
Enhanced | Up to $15,000 | Up to $15,000–$30,000 | Up to $50,000–$100,000 |
To see your exact limits, go to Profile → Account Limits in the app.
Example: You receive $35,000 into your Global Account. Can you withdraw it all to your Tanzanian bank on the same day?
On Standard verification: no. You can withdraw up to $8,000–$9,000 a day and up to $20,000–$32,000 in 30 days, so the full $35,000 can't be withdrawn within 30 days.
On Enhanced verification: yes, over 2–3 days, in transfers of up to $15,000 each.
If you expect to receive large amounts, we recommend increasing your limits before you get paid.
How can I increase my limits?
Go to Profile → Account Limits → Increase Limits, fill in the form and upload the supporting documents. Once you're verified, your new limits apply automatically.
Is there a limit on mobile money withdrawals?
Yes. Mobile money networks set their own limits on how much a wallet can receive and hold. For larger amounts, withdraw to your bank account.
