What is a NALA Global Account?
A Global Account is a digital account that lets you store and manage money in USD inside NALA. You can receive USD from abroad, hold it safely, and withdraw or send it locally whenever you need to. It helps you protect value, manage your savings, and stay in control of your money.
Where is the Global Account available?
The Global Account is currently available to NALA customers based in Tanzania 🇹🇿.
If you live somewhere else, you can join the waitlist in the app and we'll let you know when it launches in your country.

Why would I want to store my money in USD?
The US dollar is one of the most stable and widely used currencies in the world. Holding money in USD helps protect your savings from local currency fluctuations and gives you more control over your finances. With a Global Account you can:

How is my USD balance stored? Is it crypto?
Your USD balance is backed 1:1 by regulated USD stablecoins held with trusted partners.
Here's what that means in simple terms:
Stablecoins are a form of cryptocurrency designed to always equal $1, not to fluctuate in value.
They are backed by real USD cash or cash-equivalent assets.
When you hold $100 in your Global Account, it is fully backed by $100 worth of stablecoins.
Your value stays stable — $1 is always $1.
We use stablecoins behind the scenes because they allow us to move money faster, reduce costs, and keep your funds secure. You don't need to understand crypto or do anything special; the experience feels just like holding USD.
Do I have a bank account number?
Eligible customers get US virtual account details (an account number and routing number) linked to their Global Account. You can share these to get paid in USD from the US and abroad.

What can I do with my Global Account?
Receive USD from employers, clients, online platforms, family and friends
Hold USD for as long as you like
Convert and withdraw to your local currency (bank account or mobile money)
Send money to other countries

Is the Global Account for personal or business use?
The Global Account is a personal account in your name. You can receive payments into it, for example from clients you work for, as long as they are within your account limits.
Are there any fees?
Fees depend on how you receive, withdraw or send money. You'll always see any fee in the app before you confirm.

How do I remove my Global Account?
You can remove your Global Account by tapping the three dots (⋯) at the top of your wallet screen and selecting Remove wallet.
⚠️ Please read this carefully first:
Removing your wallet is permanent and cannot be undone.
Once removed, NALA cannot recover your wallet, your funds or your access.
NALA is not responsible for any funds lost as a result of removing your wallet.
Any USD left in the wallet when you remove it may be lost.
We strongly recommend you do not remove your wallet. If you're thinking about it, please withdraw your full balance first and contact our support team. There's almost always a better solution.
Can I change my country of registration?
Yes. Contact Support if you'd like to change your send country.
United Kingdom: Registration is now open to new customers. If you've been on the UK waitlist since February, we're releasing customers in batches. We'll notify you when it's your turn to proceed.
European Union: If you change it to the EU, you'll be added to a waitlist. We're releasing customers in waves, so we can't give an exact date.
