We've made a few updates to how much you can send to Cameroon in a single transaction. Here's everything you need to know โ including how to keep sending the amounts you always have.
๐ฃ What's Changed?
Our payout partners in Cameroon have lowered their per-transaction limits. Based on the latest from the ground, here's where things currently stand:
Orange Money: up to 400,000 FCFA (XAF) per transaction
MTN Mobile Money: up to 500,000 FCFA (XAF) per transaction
Previously, both providers supported up to 1,000,000 FCFA (XAF) per send.
This is a change on our partners' side, and we've updated NALA to match so your transfers continue to go through smoothly. We're actively working with both partners to find a longer-term solution, and we'll let you know as soon as anything changes.
๐ธ Can I Still Send the Same Total Amount?
Yes โ absolutely. There's no change to how much you can send overall.
If you need to send more than the per-transaction limit, simply split the transfer into two or more sends within your recipient's wallet limit.
For example:
Sending 800,000 FCFA (XAF) to Orange Money โ 2 transactions of 400,000 FCFA (XAF)
Sending 1,000,000 FCFA (XAF) to MTN Mobile Money โ 2 transactions of 500,000 FCFA (XAF)
Sending 1,000,000 FCFA (XAF) to Orange Money โ 3 transactions (e.g., 400k + 400k + 200k)
Sending 1,500,000 FCFA (XAF) to MTN Mobile Money โ 3 transactions of 500,000 FCFA (XAF)
Each transfer arrives in your recipient's wallet just as quickly as before.
๐ฑ Why Is the Orange Money Limit Lower Than MTN?
The limits are set by each mobile money provider independently. Right now, Orange Money's per-transaction cap (400,000 FCFA) is lower than MTN Mobile Money's (500,000 FCFA).
We're in active conversations with both providers and will update you as soon as either limit changes.
๐ค Why Did My Recent Transfer Fail?
If a transfer to Cameroon failed recently, the new partner limits are most likely why โ particularly for Orange Money sends between 400,000 and 500,000 FCFA, which have been affected over the last few days.
The good news: any funds taken for a failed transaction are automatically returned to your account. If you don't see your refund, please reach out via in-app chat and we'll look into it right away.
๐ฐ Will Splitting My Transfer Cost More?
You'll always see the exact fee and exchange rate before confirming each transfer, just like before. Nothing about how we display fees or rates has changed โ you're always in control of what you send and what your recipient receives.
โณ Is This Permanent?
We're actively working with our partners in Cameroon to review these limits and restore higher per-transaction caps. If anything changes, we'll let you know straight away โ both in the app and here in the Help Centre.
๐ Still Have Questions?
Our team is here to help. Reach out to NALA Support via in-app chat any time and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible.
Thanks for choosing NALA to send money home. ๐
